FIREWORK
2021 - Student Work
I was tasked with creating an animation with Iranian stamps. I chose one commemorating the New Year.
Throughout the animation, I featured other stamps as the frame moved through the water. It took me a while to figure out how the story would move from start to finish, so I decided to empty the frame to use it as a carrier, making the transitions smoother. Growing up, whenever the New Year's fireworks were broadcasted it was near the water. So I made the stamp rise through the ocean and into the sky similar to what I saw on TV. The other stamps acted as fish and you can see them tethered to fishing hooks. Both the stamps and the textures allow you to feel the passage of time during the stamp's journey to celebrate the new year.

It all started with Iran’s 1967 United Nations Day Stamp. This became the framework for everything else.
Elements from other Iranian stamps from
the archive were used to tell the story.
I dissected the stamp into different components and used the perforated edges for the wave.
The stamp frame served as a vessel for every element extracted from the original stamp, providing a smooth transition through each scene.
The postage stamp is finally reviled.
